How does VoIP work?

Voice over internet protocol (VoIP) converts voice to a digital signal which travels through the Internet. If calling a regular phone number (PSTN), the signal converts to a regular Analog signal before it reaching the destination. Voice over IP allows making calls directly through a computer, an IP phone, or a traditional phone connected to a VoIP adapter.

What kind of equipment do I need?

A broadband (high speed Internet) connection is necessary. This can be through a DSL connection or cable internet. A PC, VoIP adapter (ATA), or an IP phone. If using a computer, a software called a soft-phone and an inexpensive microphone is required. IP phones are plugged directly into a modem or switch connected to the internet and works exactly as a traditional telephone.

What do I need to get started?

All you need is a high speed internet connection to be able to use any of our services.

What is a Hosted PBX?

A PBX is like a Virtual Assistant which is an essential business tool these days, presenting prompts for callers and directing them to the appropriate department. ex: Thank you for calling XYZ company, for Sales press 1, for Customer service press 2.

What if I/my business is moving locations?

No Problem! Just unplug all your phones and plug them back into your router in your new location and you are done.

What are some of the benefits of using VoIP?

Many more features and services which are not available with traditional phones services, or may be available for additional fees. Features like Voicemail to email, Fax to Email, PBX and much more.

Can I keep my existing number?

Yes. All you need to do when creating a new account is to submit your most recent bill with your existing carrier and sign an LOA (Letter of authorization) which will be provided to you by your sales rep.

Can I have multiple phone numbers from different provinces?

Yes. You can have telephone numbers from any city in Canada ringing to you without incurring any long distance charges.

How do I access my voice mail?

To access your voice mail you can dial *98 from your Voicalls device.
